bethb's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- fightin' the good fight On the radio, there's a really rad girl talking about building a playground in S.E. DC what an awesome girl. it's being built on April 15th, and i have to work...but if anyone reads this, and you'd like to help out what sounds like a great group of people and a GREAT cause, head on over. 6th and Mississippi S.E. in ward 8. check out their web page www.projectplayground.com for more info and to see what you can donate. i wish i had more time to fight the good fight. i miss college where everyone was brighteyed, idealistic and coffee-fueled. now i'm just coffee fueled. i guess i'm trying to get back the old beth with my zine, but all i'm experienceing is fear. for instance: (and truly, i don't mean to be all grade-school about this, but i harbor a bizzare need for acceptance, so bear with me) haven't heard *anything* about 99% of the people i sent it out to. maybe they didn't like it...maybe they're embarrassed to have their band in it, i dunno....but honestly, hatemail would be better than silence.....i could use some constructive criticism. man.... what i'm really most disappointed about, was someone that i was really excited about maybe becoming friends with (maybe- maybe i'm just fooling myself) hasn't said anything about it either. anyway, stop the mope beth.... work shouldn't equal your life. as much as i like theatre, it makes me sad when i have to sacrifice moments from my flaming youth because the director thinks the goblets on the table are 'too pier 1' when, infact, they are period reproductions from jamestown and most definately *not* pier 1. and then there are moments like on saturday where i'll get to hobnob with anthony hopkins and kelly mcgillis and harry hamiln and others... we have to set up the display for the 'Will Award' which is when the theatre i work for finds a celebrity to hand a hunk of lucite to (why are all 'awards' lucite now? ) and charge people 500 bucks a pop for a dinner plate. but the proceeds go to community outreach programs like the 'southeast project' which brings kids in, and focuses them on writing, directing and producing their own plays....i think that's great. but i'd rather build playgrounds.... 08:59:26 - 2000-04-09 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
