dali-au-go-go

i'm kind-of in a kranky mood this morning because of the DMV, but i'm not going to let it spoil the mood of my weekend.

it was totally fun.

friday i got got chinese food, watched sabrina the teenage witch, which was dumb.... bien sur.

fell asleep reading....didn't do my painters elevations.

whoopsie.

saturday morning, woke up, went to the flea market across the street (i live across the street from Eastern Market which is this big, totally rad, historical (outdoor on weekends) farmers market and junk treasure extravagnaza.

bought a new order record and a billie holiday record for a buck. both in very good condition. there's a little wear on the jacket sleeve of the new order record, but it's pretty fine all the same.

Then, lea came over, and we went to a used book sale in georgetown. found some good stuff.....lots of smelly men.

I used to work in a used book and record store in high school, and, now you can try to disprove my theory, but you can't. i swear up down left and right that it will be impossible to debunk this....

used, cheap, possibly obscure books bring out the great unwashed of the world.

We had one guy at the store i used to work at, come and read OUT LOUD the um...."saucier" parts of romance novels.

we had to ask him to leave because it was *realllllllly* creepy.

then we went to richmond virginia, to do some shopping for work, and also, because lea wanted me to see this one guy who worked down there. i thought "why not?"

so as we get out of her car, she asks me if we need to feed the meters, and i'm reading the meter, and she says "oh my god, that is totally randy baker walking down the street"

i turn and look and say nawwww....but isn't it funny...he totally....wait...nooooooo

at this point, i'm in a full-out stare with whomever this is.

turns out it is randy baker.

2 hours away from DC.

isn't life weird?

i guess you'd think it was wierder if you knew all the subtext here, but since lea and i are the only ones who know...ehhhh fuck it.

anyway, then we went to this indian place and got pretty decent cheap indian food.

and then saturday night, i went to see Oswego (minus about 60 of their band-mates) play with the Crowns who so kicked ass....

and darn, still didn't work on the painters elevations.

sunday i read the post in bed, listening to the radio while my upstairs neighbor clomped about. then lea came over and we went downtown for the human equality march and listened to some speakers and went to the dali exhibit at the hirschorn.

very cool.

none of his scuplture though.

i really like his sculptures.

then we wandered around the sculpture garden. it was fun to be a tourist.

but most importantly, i still have not finished my painters elevations......
