stick it to bush

Ok, first, because lawd *knows* i loves me my pranks, i urge you all to do this:

Patt Morrison of the LA Times has a fabulous idea. Presidents Day is coming

up on February 19. We all need to make a donation, however small, to a

pro-choice organization and have a card sent to Bush basically saying:

"President Bush, a donation has been made in your name to Planned Parenthood."

If you are interested in doing this, Planned Parenthood has made it exceptionally easy for you. You can make your donation online at:

planned parenthood on line

I think that's brilliant. I know i only get about 50 or so people a day reading this after i update, so i urge you all to tell your friends as well.

our server has been down and out lately. and i'm having a weirdly hard time communicating with people who have web-based email. Evidently, there's some loser somewhere who tried to hack into our system (i'm pretty sure it's un-robbery related, because if they were related, the person could have gotten in (? is that right? i guess, i dunno) so our systems manager is installing some blocking thing and we can't access web based email here, but we're supposed to be able to send mail *to* people, and *receive* it, but i've just had a bunch of stuff returned.

foo.

i don't understand hackers. sean tried to explain to me that it's the equivillant of me going to the black cat and seeing bands play...it's all a matter of how one likes to waste one's time. i don't agree with that theory, but whatever. evidently, i'm not supposed to have opinions let alone disagree with people. i still think hackers are dumb. and probably in need of a good hair washing.

so far, i've had a good weekend. friday, anna (who is our new intern and my new friend)and i went to baltimore. anna is *sooo* very very rad. she knows all about stuff like bakelite jewlery and understood my excitement when i told her about me finding an elsa schiaparelli scarf at a goodwill for a stinkin' buck! (incidentally, that's the second schiaparelli find for a dollar. the other was a hat box that i bought for a show, but when i saw her name on the box, i paid out of my own pocket so i could keep it.)it's so exciting to have a friend to thrift with again.

*and* we made plans to go to the mousetrap at the black cat, the mousetrap is an 80's brit-pop dance thing. i've always wanted to go, but i coudln't rustle up enough intrest. i seriously need to meet folks not in theatre. the more i think about theatre, the less interested i am in it. i've been doing this for 14 years now (not professionally, but still, at a pretty frantic pace). i think i deserve a break. yeah. a break.

man. 14 years. i can't commit to anything, and yet i can commit to a lifestyle where i kill myself through toxins and schedule and caffeine and long hours and little money.

went to the Newseum (it's a museum about news) today with diana and her friend leslie. diana used to work with me, and we still keep in touch. then we went out for indian food for lunch at Madu Bhan. they use to be only vegetarian, but the guy said that families were divided over their vegetarian status. our waiter seemed really apologetic about that. it's funny what people get defensive and appologetic for. go figure.

xoxo
