bethb's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- welcome to my apartment- the kitsch factor on friday, i got an email from chris r. of q and not u inviting myself or ben on stage to talk about fort reno....so i did...and i'm pretty sure i was awful. it completely stunned me, hearing my voice (which is icky, by the way) come back to me a split second later, and surprise myself with what i was saying. my mouth went on auto pilot, and i don't think i could have stopped it if i tried. q and not u, however.....amazing. i didn't know how it would be with matt no longer in the ranks, but they're just so much more....urgent. i miss the matty b, but holy cow. they were so good. it also felt really good to go to a show again. aside from jonathan r. and the fort reno benefit last weekend, i haven't been to any shows this year at all. being sick and working all the time just knocked me over. saturday was great. i hung out with jessica and we went thrifting, 2 new games (new kids on the block )(i never liked new kids, but i couldn't pass up the kitsch factor)(my apartment should be called kitch factor) and some strong man, championship weight lifting game, featuring this large plastic man that bends in all manners unfortunate, and bears more than a passing resemblance to jimmy carter. if jimmy carter were a 10 inch orange mold-injected plastic man. sadly, you need some kind of degree in rigging and engineering to put the strong man game together, but i'll have it up and running soon. i also found a record by a band with *THE* worst name ever. no doubt about it. face dancer. no, no typos...face dancer. i might actually have to go back and get it, it was so awful looking. can you imagine? Mom! dad! i'm in a band! we're called FACE DANCER! hey sweet sweet lady, wanna come over to my parents house and listen to my band's new record...we're called FACE DANCER. also, jess and i went to baltimore and had b.o.p. pizza (which i swear to christ, there's gotta be other food in baltimore, but i don't care.....it's crack pizza it also doesn't hurt that it's near soundgarden, which is a really good record store.) oh! and we had vegan tofu gyro at the berwyn cafe, which if you don't know, is heaven in a pita. today's been pretty slack. i think imma gonna cook myself a nice din din, clean my bathroom, work on my thing for del ray (i'm going to submit a piece for the del ray artisans group, who are having a show about games and toys. i'm keeping it kinda secret about what i'm doing, because i love my idea and i'm paranoid like that.) anyway, that's gotta be finished by the 31st of may. 4:17 p.m. - 2002-05-12 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
