i got an email yesterday from chris from Q. who are playing their last two shows ever last night and tonight
they had open spaces on the guest list and the paid reserve so i said sure, yes please put me on paid reserve. it was still nice of him to think of me, esp when i didn't plan on going to their shows because it sold out *weeks* ago and the kids are nutty for them. which is really endearing to see the journey of a band when you pick up on them when they could still count their number of shows on two hands now here it is 6 years later. dozens of shows (for you) and hundreds of shows (for them) later and you've seen them outstanding and you've seen them kinda....meh. and you've seen them loose a band member and not replace him which turned out to be the right decision and you've seen them attempt to bury peach pits at fort reno in some weird attempt at....something....and you've seen them play with go-go bands at the opening of a *baaaad* go-go documentary that was shot too darkly and the camera work made you sea-sick and you actually had to throw up a little in the bathroom. and they've played benefit shows for the concert series you've booked and they were never, not once disrespectful not even when it was 6 years ago and you asked if you could interview them for what ended up being the last issue ever of your dumb zine and the member who then left and the drummer who does the best impressions of anyone you've ever seen give you a delightful and charminig interview and there's a pickle bar.
