all this heavenly glory

next weekend is run for cover at the black cat. i'm helping out the band who is doing the finale. it keeps getting scaled back which makes me a little sad.
i still get to make a fake head. and some other stuff. it's going to be good.
i'm meeting colleen for lunch at a 'restaurant and book store' today. i've been trying to not let myself buy any more books until i've been through a small chunk of the bought and as-yet-unread clogging my shelves. but i borrowed 'all this heavenly glory' by elizabeth crane from ryan and i'm almost done and it's so good i'm prolonging the end because i know i'll be sad when i'm done.
it's just so freakishly good...and by freakish i mean seemingly intune to my life. .like the thing with the TV...and owen wilson....and david foster wallace. i mean, i know i'm not the only person ever who loves those three things, but still...when used in close and rapid fire delivery it makes you go 'woah' and not in the joey lawrence way.
i'm probably going to get her other book today if kramer's has it....and try not to buy another jonathan lethem book....since i still have 2 to read...and not even counting fortress of solitude which i don't own, but want to read. but i picked up the disappointment artist at a place in westvirginnie earlier this week and read the first essay while chris was off translating stuff for other people. i ultimately put it back.
....can't....won't....shouldn't....still have men and cartoons to finish....after all this heavenly glory.
seriously 'tho...you should read it.
i might have to read it again immediately after i finish...i should get my own copy so i can make notes in it and write her a letter about how much i enojyed the book and how although i was a little late coming to the parker stevenson party, i totally get it and always prefered him to shaun cassidy although i was young and didn't understand why.
also? i was in an old navy yesterday and while i was trying on clothes 'punk rock girl' came on the in-store music which was weird because:
1) this is clinton maryland. where the only punks were probably ryan and marc. and they weren't even from clinton, but suitland. but still. the music was probably not enjoyed by anyone in the store- probably not even me as for some reason, it made me tear up. and not because of the dean sabatino-philly accent-homesickness which sometimes comes up, it was the fact that i think 15 year old beth who originally heard that song when it came out would proabably not be happy with 33 year old beth buying ugly pants at a store like old navy. and all of a sudden i felt like i've just really let myself down.
