good night chicago
i've just printed out my boarding pass back to DC. man, i love you internet....you make life easy....sometimes. i'm really glad came to chicago. i'm really glad i went to pitchfork. it was really actually fun. it was pretty well organized. plus, good grief....mission of burma. they're really....it. just it. i don't know how else to say it. os mutantes were not quite what i wanted them to be. a lot of what i love about them is the compressed guitar and sludgey sound and just weird noises. this was more...langley school and variety show. oh, also, glen kotchke from wilco did some solo drum stuff. it's pretty safe to say i'm totally smitten with him. he's a much better drummer than people (with the exception of jeff tweedy) give him credit for. also, i'd have to say one of the best parts of the show was when kc and i were lying in the grass during yo la tengo and spoon recapping all the band shirts we saw (sufjan stevens won hands hands hands down. even today a guy in an 'illonoise' shirt walked next to a guy in the michigan one. which, personally, i thought was a little too matchy-matchy. the pixies made a strong showing today tho with 4-5 shirts. also, the hold steady. then we started recaping shirts we were surprised to not see (stereolab, dismemberment plan, jawbox, promise ring) and then kc said "play your hit SPOON" to really no one in particular because he was facing the sky and i don't know why but that really cracked my shit up. i can feel a sinus headache coming on which sucks. i need to get to bed. good night, chicago. love beth b.
