carol

i helped sean and rania set up their art-errific booths at adams morgan day this morning.
waking at 6 am on a sunday...bah. but i love the energy of setting up craft fair things...it reminds me of my parents.
it was also a good kick in the artistic pants to finish some projects and really begin to buckle down about the bastards fair which is in about three weeks.
so after i was through helping sean and rania i went with colleen to a cellphone place because of some buisness with her phone and i took her to the place where they were helpful to me when i was having cell phone issues. so that might be resolved. i think. i hope.
and then we were just going to get two things at ac moore. just two things. i needed a circular sewing needle of a wider diameter because i need to crank out some hats not just for the bastards, but for my friend carol which i'll explain in a second...and some polyfil for a thing i made for someone.
so we get there and we're looking around and loading up our respective handbaskets and i see a "moonlight madness" flier which means if we kill an hour and a half we'll get 25% off our purchase. which i was kind of not into being that i'd been up and on my feet since 6 am and i was beat and i wanted to go home and grill some chicken and finish reading the beaux script and stuff this damn toy.
but we did. we went to safeway and bought non perishable stuff and then looked at everything in bed bath and beyond and then back to ac moore, found my tucked away basket and added to it and got in line.
when i got home it was around 7 and i grilled some chicken (which this time was merely 'ok'. i think maybe i forced the whole thaw thing) and finished reading the beaux script during the fox tv premire thing.
the 'who's afraid of virginia woolfe' bit in american dad might make me a watcher of that show yet.
then i got an email from my friend carol. a month or so ago, she found some lumps growing on the side of her neck and had a biopsy done...i think...i'm not really sure the whole routine and stuff, but it's not good. they're stage4 and aggressive which to me doesn't sound good but the good news is, is that they aren't below her neck.
so let's focus on the positive.
if anyone can beat this, it's carol. she's an amazing lady. you should see the two kids she's raised with her husband darius. that family....they are so kind and giving and supportive of each other and everyone around them and seriously, i think probably have "give 'til it hurts" tattooed on the inside of their eyelids.
together they set an example that would, i think, would give mother theresa pause and carol's leading the pack. i can't imagine her not here, so i won't. i'm just going to vow to pray and think good thoughts and knit her funny hats and try to be as supportive as time and distance will permit.
