i'm #2

so i shot a quick email to the woman who interviewed me for the job saying that i got the letter with their decision, but still offered my services in dealing with park rangers and she wrote me back to say she may be calling me soon when i get home and i find i actually received another letter from her today.
it was actually a card crammed to the hilt with the nicest most encouraging things pretty much ever.
she told me it came down to me and another woman who worked at a sculpture/production studio (and ironically i think i may have been looking at her job on craigslist on tuesday) that the agency had worked with in the past. i think they were the studio that made the panda forms and the like.
so, that's a kinda nice way to start a weekend. to find out maybe you didn't do so badly afterall. even if those sporty-type people say "2nd place is the first loser" it's better knowing you were #2 than thinking you were #9.
