a list of people i've never seen
tonight art brut is at the black cat, but i think i'll pass. i've seen them twice (i've seen them....twice!) (if you listen to them, you'll get that and if you don't, it wasn't that funny anyway) in other music i like news: i was watching that terrible 'how i met your mother' show last night and they used 'don't call me whitney bobby' by islands which, right now anyway, is one of my favorite songs ever and i screamed at my tv NO! you can not have this song! and what's worse is they hacked it to hell and back during some stupid montage. i just hate that these tv shows are taking all the music i like and exposing it to the douchey how-i-met-your-mother-at-the-oc-office people which translate into lame, packed crowds who will probably dump a band just as fast. which i think if i do the math, means that i'll be able to actually get my hands on a death cab ticket sometime around 2011 when ben gibbard's resemblance to charlie brown is more than just passing. also, does it weird anyone else out that he doesn't show his upper teeth when he sings? just my issue? ok. actually, i'm not that bitter about never seeing dcfc live. i could have when the plan opened for them...at least i'm pretty sure i didn't go to those shows. i remember the poster. i can't see them really putting on a rocking show. let's recap some bands i lament never seeing: minutemen (although i have seen mike watt numerous times) drive like jehu (another although: i've seen hot snakes a few times and they've worked a couple of jehu songs in) the modern lovers (i've seen jonathan richman solo) pixies (i just can't go now that frank black looks like a lucien freud painting come to life) ac/dc blondie m.ward (i hope there's still time for this one) rites of spring minor threat b-52's big black jesus lizard killdozer 5.6.7.8's dead milkmen buzzcocks i'm sure there's more, but i have to go to work. it's raining.
