much happiness

you know what's maybe not a great idea?
Reading joan dideon's 'year of magical thinking' in public.
i tore through the first two chapters on the metro on my way home and there were definite tears clinging to my eyeballs.
someone i was talking to raised the point of 'well, what makes her experience of loss any more valid than anyone elses' and i see their point. but the fact that i could feel *my* heart breaking in my chest certainly can attest to her clear & emotional style of writing.

also, i had an immense moment of validation at work today. a problem came up on an install yesterday that dealt with an office, repeatedly not having its stuff together and basically we had to abort installing artwork in their office. twice. and i was dreading telling my supervisor because i often feel as if i'm speaking japanese and she only speaks chinese. BUT in some weird miracle of miracles, she basically went through today what i went through yesterday and the guy who was working with her to install plaques was with me yesterday (and during the first attempt to install the artwork) so she totally saw my plight and wasn't mad and understood it all right away.
ii feel a little guilty feeling any vindication over this, but honestly, i was really dreading telling her about this whole stupid office and she's just as aggrivated about the whole thing as i am which is kinda awesome.
and, i was able to get my favorite machine at the gym today. so much happiness abounds
