i'm picking at a 5 hour old burrito i bought for dinner and didn't finish. i should just save the rest for lunch.

i forgot to mention that one of my favorite authors and friend-of-friends elizabeth crane was doing a reading yesterday. i half jokingly asked her to ask the guy she was doing a reading with yesterday to read slowly so i might catch some of it since i was coming back from philadelphia but i missed it. she was taking pictures and chatting and i walked in, probably open mouthed and dumb and she looked at me and pointed and said 'are you beth?' and i said 'um...yeah'.
at least i finally met her. i think. i was tired and dumb and kind of hate meeting people that i admire because i never have anything of benefit to say.
i told her i really enjoyed 'you must be this happy...' and said it was comforting to know that there are other people out there who innocently fantasize about sharing the sunday paper in bed with some dude while listening to NPR...although in my case, i usually watch a movie. NPR is more of a saturday thing for me.

I mean, don't get me wrong...i have other fantasies too. The other day there was a delightful bespeckled guy with a crooked smile on the metro and i absent-mindedly thought about all the dirty, dirty things i'd like to do with him until i realized what i was thinking and then got so embarrassed i couldn't even look at him anymore....from half a metro-car away.
i'm just saying, sometimes, all i really want is for someone to hand the sports section to while i get the art& style section all out of order and start the crossword and it's nice to know i'm not necessarily alone in that
