Just some advice.

There is an award ceremony here in DC named for one of the most famous actress-ladies and every year they dole out the statues. It use to be a good party- a big stupid award ceremony (my favorite was the year they almost whacked liza minelli in the head with the screen that came down) and then a party up on the terrace of the Kennedy Center. It's usually great weather and the alcohol was free- although you had to have a ticket to get into the preceeding ceremony, if you timed it right, you could just ride the elevators up to the terrace to enjoy the party which, to me, always kind of smacked of the prom. Except the cherry red troupe usually (mostly) showed up in drag. And I do think, 6'2" drag queens in mini-skirts was just what my prom lacked.
Anyway, I stopped going because I didn't really care about it. I hate award ceremonies to begin with and well, I hate theatre.
They stopped hosting the event at the Ken Cen too which was really the only reason to go. But this past monday was the first Helen Hayes awards since I left Shakespeare. And they won nothing. Not. A. Thing.
I think it's the first time they've ever been totally shut-out. Although it happened to Arena too. It's kind of like an inverse of the year all the big theatres won everything and the smaller theatres won nothing and there was a big outcry saying there should be two levels of awards or whatever.
I say suck it up and do better work.
And maybe, just maybe, when you're opening a new theatre? And your theatre's namesake is Shakespeare? Maybe don't open the new theatre with two Christopher Marlowe plays.
Just saying.
