listen up, artsy fartsies

Dear Artists:
Yeah, I know deadlines are a drag. And I know reading is hard. But here's the thing, it's necessary, ok? Don't fucking wait for calls to fall into your fucking lap. There's this thing out there called "google" use it. Use this format "Your city" +art +open calls and you'll find something. Or put opportunities instead of open calls to get on email lists, go to galleries, visit art centers and look around. Do not sit in your mother fucking houses waiting for someone to knock on your door and tell you how brilliant you are because let's face it, you're probably not if you're sitting on your duff waiting to be discovered.
Also, you, the one asking a few thousand for a canvas, buy a computer.
Get over the fact you don't like them. It's 2008. Having a computer and a digital camera is just as necessary as a paintbrush and pencil. Slides are clunky, time consuming and unless you're reproducing works at a place that is slides only, obsolete. They're also about 19 times as expensive as a CD-r and not easily reproducible. Invest in a basic computer and program like photoshop elements so you can organize your photos. You will wonder what took you so long.
Also, how about this, don't be a jackhole to the person answering the phone in the pub arts office. You're not going to get anywhere. Especially when you call three days after the deadline and expect an extension when the extension was three days past the deadline.

Now if i could find the foot peddle to my sewing machine. Please tell me I did not accidentally take it to the thrift store last weekend. please please please.
