i took a lot of photos of buildings
I googled the person who made the dress i bought yesterday- here it is http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=12895991 I seriously can't recommend her enough. A few weeks ago i was asked if i wanted to be in a show that's being curated by this artist i've worked with and i know she asked me out of niceness and stuff and not because of my painterly talent of which i have...well....almost none.
She sent out some specifications of the show including the artist roster and oh. my. god. i think i should back out now. it's serious a-list talent. not just DC artists, but some internationally known people. i might as well draw with crayons on a placemat...then someone might misinterpret my lack of skill for some kind of artistic statement.
also, i got the 'hey, you're in' email from crafty bastards moving me off the waitlist.
this september is going to be a crazy make stuff make stuff make stuff month.
this morning i walked all over the loop area looking at buildings, wandering through a few like the cultural center and millennium park. the frank gehry band-shell thing is *amazing* and the glass block fountain walls by Jaume Plensa are just.....it's the greatest thing i've ever seen. chicago really has its priorities together for public art. interesting public art.
i also went to the loyola museum of art which was....not impressive. i mean, it has some nice religious artifacts but they're by and large taken from tombs, vaults, and churches so they're viewed out of context.
nice bathroom 'tho.
tomorrow i'm going to take an architecture boat tour and attempt the navy pier. i figure it would be smart to wait 'til all the flying stuff is done. and of course, tonight is the wedding! last night we all went to a bar and i got to hang out with dan for a little bit. he said 'the ceremony is going to be pretty jewish' and i said 'i gathered from the invitation' which was half-hebrew, half english.
i think i'm going to wear my new dress tonight.
