pretty stupid

i asked my coworker K if she was carrying the NYT magazine and she said 'yes' and I asked who the comic artist was this round- I've stopped getting it...it was too much newspaper although if Chris Ware ever cycles back around I might pick it back up. Then again, there's this great thing called the internet? I'm pretty sure I can find them there.
Anyway K said "oh, I don't read those..I never understand them".
I never know how to respond to stuff like that, so I just tilt my head and nod like it's the most interestesting thing i've ever heard.
Also- this whole 'steampunk' thing? Is it just me or is that word pretty stupid?
