a prayer for Mr. W

eric called me this morning to tell me that a mutual friend/ex co-workers father was savagely attacked dropping off his wife for choir practice christmas eve in front of their church
He's still in critical condition but slightly improving.
when eric was telling me this it sounded familiar and googled it and realized yes. this has been on the news lately.
eric said he hasn't spoken since christmas eve and the doctors think he'll never see out of one eye ever again. what kind of fucking animal takes a bat to the face of someone? regardless of the fact it's christmas eve, and you're in front of a church, and he's almost 70.
it's so upsetting. i'm praying for a christmas miracle i guess. I know becky and her dad had a small plot at the greenbelt community garden and during the summer she'd bring in all the tomatoes and squash they'd grow together. it was really really sweet.
it's so unfair it's mind boggling.
