bethb's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- it's all in the accessories I have such a massive sinus headache right now. Ouch. It's always behind my right eye, which makes me feel that at any moment, it's going to fly out of it's socket and bounce around the room ricocheting off of the dusty floor. What's the proper procedure of re-installing a jettisoned eye anyhow? I'm pretty sure there isn't one, and all in all, it's probably a lost cause. but for right now, ouch. Jenny Toomey and Amy Domingues (Telegraph melts/garland of hours) played the backstage at the black cat last night. It was really sparsely attended. I was supprised. Some of the songs were older (they opened with cheap cuts which is on the Liquorice album). I have to admit, i don't think the cello worked on that song. I really like the jangley banjo on the original version. But the rest of the set was great. I only wish it had gone on longer. Jean Smith (mecca normal) then played with bob masey (telegraph melts)(oh, how i mourn the demise of telegraph melts) She's amazing. I've never seen her before, but i remember hearing stories of how Mecca Normal got unplugged on the lolapalooza (sp?) second stage show because people thought it was weird and loud. No baby, that's not weird and loud- that's the future of rock. She used some colbalt-glass egg cup/candle stick/appertief glass thing as a slide for the neck of her guitar and got this amazing effect that rivaled the sounds of a bagpipe while bob used a drum stick (something he did in TM too) and got this wailing Manatee effect, while the woman who was drumming would rattle pie plates and hub caps and sometimes hit a gong. It's all in the accessories. xoxo beth b. 13:28:33 - 2000-07-07 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
