bethb's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- roadrunner road runner jonathan richman was ultra dreamy last night. i'm still trying to puzzle together that ridiculous opening band. local. had only heard of them, and the fact that they've for whatever reason, won some kind of area award thing, that i don't really take as to holding much water. man, they were bad. pointing-to-the-balcony-of-the-club-bad. bad "hey man, watch me flip my hair" bad but it really was the balcony point that made me go 'yep. i need another beer' and then pretty much stared intently at their kick drum. for what it's worth, it was a cool kick drum. i will say, they were punctual lads. they went on at 9:30, left the stage at 10, and they didn't dick around over tuning everything. maybe it was out of tune, and i didn't notice, but performance wise, they were tight. just really really really schlocky. if the lead singer (and i'm always wary of lead singers sans instruments) is going to hold the mic at his dick and let it flop around like some flacid dick, he'd better back it up with some fire or something. that's all i'm saying. but oh, jonathan richman. jj- i wish you could have been there! 9:18 a.m. - 2002-02-21 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
