more polly, less minor....
chris leaves tomorrow with paul taylor. i'm going to catch their matinee today. man, dancer's bodies should be illegal. or criminal. anyhows, i'm saying they're good. we're going to do the eastern market tradition (although probably without the heavenly french toast). tonight i'm going to see the routineers play. there was a little snippit of a review in the post yesterday.i taped it to ryan's door so he'd see it. a mark jenkins review. both ryan and i think...the review...is....positive? i actually think it is. but if mark j. were to fully go fan boy on it, the city would collectively roll their eyes and say "dischord band....typical". i also hate how he had to point out amanda is ian's sister. i mean, she is. and i'm sure she's use to it by now. and i guess when your bruddah is responsible for two big, influential bands, PLUS the record label that never had to compromise it's vision, it's hard to get away from. i think if you don't know the dischord people or bands, maybe it does seem a little snobby. but that is the most caring collective of people i've ever seen, when amanda and ian's mom passed away this summer, the support they got, the people that came flooding back into town was really really beautiful. i'm a big fan of the mackaye family on the whole. i don't know A. um...at all, save for two conversations, but ian and amanda? big big thumbs up. although when you listen to amanda, i think you hear more Poly Styrene and the Xray spex, but that's just me.
