rebuttal from the dad
i played drums today with ryan. felt good. we also went to breakfast at jimmy t's on capitol hill. small. quirky. crowded. good. coffee there is...ehhh.
scott apparently said something to dad about how upset i was and there was an email from my dad today that wasn't a forward. it took me a while but i read it.
ryan pointed out today that my folks aren't out to bring anybody down. they're just processing information in a poorly informed manner or something.
it sounded better when he said it, but he's right.
my dad's email was this
:Beth, I'm sorry if I created too much of a derisive mood in sending you the e-mail the other day. Scott stopped in and mentioned how upset you were with your old man. I guess that all the political spin has made the NO disaster a partisan mess. All the finger pointing is not solving the problem, we as a nation have drop the poltical activity and try to come together as a nation and support each other.
We love you and understand your thoughts. You can always come home and express your position, Thank heaven we live in a country that one can express their idealogy and not be incarcarated. Love Dad
i can't decide if the last sentence about being thankful we live somewhere where you can express yourself is a dig at me or not. i don't think so. my dad is not that subtle.
i guess scott told him i asked him if i could stay with him when i go home.
it's just really disturning to find out your dad is pat buchannen....pat was on the mclaughlin group yesterday spouting almost word for word the email my dad forwarded me. one thing is for certain, if it's possible i'll be spending thanksgiving volunteering at the armory for the hurricane victims if they're still there.
i approached chester to see if i could take a half day once a week to volunteer there too. he actually seemed ok with it.
