wizard of the gay pride parade
so, yesterday i met with steven to discuss this production of wizard of oz that he wants me to do with him. for the...oh god....i'm going to get weird google hits for this one so i need to change the name somehow- district of c0lumbia g@y mens ch0rus. so....you know......fabulous seriously 'tho.....this might be the biggest budget thing i've ever designed which has me trembling in my sneakers. it will probably be a lot of fun, steven, who is a very tasteful gay man, has defined the costumers as uber campy, and fun and maybe a little trashy...and that's his word, not mine. but like, every time the wicked witch comes on stage, she's a different kind of cinematic witch such as joan crawford....and dorthy is a dude in shorty-shorts.....that's what i've gotten myself into. so steven was talking about wagons and different wagons to be different things and i said "oh my god steven, these could be parade floats!" which he loved....sooooooooo.....i dunno. i'm sure that come february i will have a bunch of stories about this, so stay tuned. but seriously, the budget? huge. in the midst of talking, i mentioned to steven that i had a job interview and he said "where?" and i told him the agency and he said "what job?" and i told him and he got quiet for a second and i thought it was going to be like on friday where everyone i spoke to before and after the interview (before i changed in to my normal working togs) i was having a normal conversations with but inevitably they'd stop and go- wait- that's a good look for you...why are you dressed up? did you have a job interview? are you leaving us? but steven said "dude- i applied for the same job". which actually made me feel ok- so we compared interviews and length and questions. i don't know, i think probably neither of us will get it, although i'm sure we're probably both secretly rooting for ourselves. and last night colleen and i took 3 blocks of georgetown by storm. papersource, sephora and miss saigon. seriously, is there anything better than vietnamese food? i think not. off to the grocery store to replenish my coffee supply.
