courage

i feel strangely calm right now. i just finished hemming another pair of pants. i keep running over questions and answers in my head. trying not to giggle nervously.
have you ever noticed weird themes in your life? like when i went to france and england, everywhere i went there was st. john the baptist and solome. it didn't help that there was a caravaggio exhibit from the last years of his life at the tate that was almost exclusively st. john paintings.
there's a new theme popping up that i don't feel like writing about here, because, honestly, its concept is a bit hokey. but maybe it's something i need to try.
tonight was a really really gorgeous sunset and i called carol since tomorrow is a big day for both of us and i told her if she had a second, she should go outside and look because it seemed like a good omen. the clouds were pink and the sky was bright blue. it was really breathtaking.
i really love skies like that, but whenever i try to photograph them, it never takes. i don't know if it's because i've forgotten what i was specifically focusing on in that sky or if it's the way a photograph flattens everything out, but i've seen people paint a beautiful sky.
i'm hoping the sky was an omen...although i know i put too much stock in that stuff.
but i think carol needs every bit of positive thinking even 'tho she's actually approaching this as something great happening.
i only wish i could have one 100th of her optimism.
she's honest to god, viewing this as an adventure and as one of the greatest things to ever happen to her. talk about being able to roll with the punches. that woman has courage.
