ma vie en musique

i'm an idiot. everyone's an idiot. wouldn't you like to be an idiot too....

i'm not even going to elaborate, instead, i'm going to take a cue from ms. harriet and do the soundtrack to your life thing
IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD YOUR SOUNDTRACK BE?
So, here's how it works:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play.
4. For every question, type the song that's playing.
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don't lie and try to pretend you're cool.

OPENING CREDITS:
Go Go's - Can't stop the world.
while this song in particular isn't to crucial to the life of beth b. the Go-Go's on the whole are, so good call itunes! Plus, this song is totally catchy and is almost singlehandedly turning the cloud over my head around.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL:
Waitresses: I know what boys like
This is actually really funny, because i will totally admit to listening to this song before going out to parties my sophomore year of college. seriously.
I'm afraid of what itunes will dish out for the next one:

FALLING IN LOVE:
Sufjan stevens- Joy to the World.
Um....this is so wildly inappropriate, but seriously, have you seen Sufjan? I wouldn't mind receiving that king.

BREAKING UP:
Pavement-Chelsey's little wrists.
I would have chosen new math by Drive like Jehu. but um....i don't even remember downloading slanted and enchanted onto my itunes

PROM:
Replacements- Achin' to be
Ironically, right time period. I can't say for sure that the DJ played the replacements, but i'm going to say i doubt it. As radio my senior year consisted of Vanilla ice (this is what was popular- NOT what i listened to), Ricco Suave, and that shitty "more than words" song. I would have maybe used this for opening credits. or maybe the next one...

LIFE'S OK:
Misfits- Green Hell.
HAHAHAHH YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MENTAL BREAKDOWN:
Wilco- Misunderstood (live at the 9:30 club from last week from some kind soul who took the NPR live broadcast and broke it down into MP3's. so good. i love the fact that i can relive that show through the recording. )
there's a lot right with this song falling into that category for a myriad of reasons.
but maybe mostly for the way jeff tweedy became a fucking machine and repeated "nothing" over and over and over and over like 30 times in a staccato like and maddening manner.

Driving:
Replacements- Shiftless when idle
i have other more driving-y songs (like 'flat lay the water' by sea and cake) but this'll do.

FLASHBACK:
Hotsnakes- Gar forgets his insulin
this does have a spinning quality that movies and tv use for flashback segues...

GETTING BACK TOGETHER:
guided by voices: I am a scientist
I am a lost soul, i shoot myself with rock and roll

WEDDING:
Man Man- Feathers
this makes me sad in a weird way.

BIRTH OF A CHILD:
sonic youth- pattern recognition.
oh god.....yes. turning into ones mother anyone?

FINAL BATTLE:
Lois: Sugar rush
i......this could only pertain to one battle and that's so fucking freaky.

DEATH SCENE:
Romeo Void- Never say never
um....huh. apparently my life is a martha coolidge movie?
i might like you better if we slept together indeed.

FUNERAL SONG:
Liquorice- Jill of all trades.
Wow itunes, you nailed this one.
this liquorice record, by the way, (it's called 'Listening Cap') you need it. you do.
sadly, i bet if you check the L section of your local used CD place, it will be there. and you should buy it. i'm not kidding when i say it will change your life.

END CREDITS:
Soccer Team- Platonic, unrequited, tragic
That would better sum up my love life, but this will do. and i like the fact that it's one of ryan's songs.

i would not be ashamed if these songs were used, although i'm a little ashamed that it's all indie rock stuff.
i have some jazz and john fahey and some non-indie rock stuff.
but i'm glad that none of the guilty pleasure stuff came up..
