back breaking work
I sprayed hundreds of fake ivy vines black today for sig's innaugural to their new space production of Into the Woods. there were (loud) two (loud) electric (loud) paint (loud) guns (deafening) and two pnumatic spray guns from one compressor as welll. kim was well equiped with half and full face masks and goggles and paint hoods and surgical bootie shoe covers and gloves, because that shit was *everywhere*, i don't know what sigs stuff will be like in the new theatre, if they have a scene shop but 4 people in a rehearsal space with 4 paint-guns ablazing was gross. when you went to refill your gun and walked back into the room, it was amazing to see the haze. my arms were black about half way up to my elbow and my neck and shoulders are sore from bending over and holding the (loud) heavy (loud) electirc (sucks) paintgun, because you also had to carry a paint bucket that the onery hose to the gun liked to hop out of if you just left it on the floor. also, the gun easily weighed 9 pounds. it did give me time to reflect on how exciting it must be to be into DC's theare scene right now. wooley is open and i think faring ok in their 2nd season in their new space, arena just unveiled huge new plans to rework their campus, we're suppose to be opening not just another stage but another venue next october, sig. is moving into a new, 2 stage space for them, studio is also in i think their 2nd season for their remodeled space. and i don't really give a hoot. but i bet if you're into it? it's probably really exciting. i was going to cook a trout filet for dinner tonight, but my arms don't feel like doing much of anything. oh why did i give the cook the evening off?
