birthday socks and wrinkle cream
highlights/lowlights from the last few days: saturday, during the open studio, there was a parade to coincide with Mt. Rainier day. the parade went something like this: police car. police car. police car. a bernese mountain dog pulling two kids in a cart. (at first, i couldn't tell if it was a small horse or a dog, either way i grabbed my camera and went out to snap some photos which i'll posot when i find my USB cord)police car. old lady in a red had and red umbrella in a convertible. cop car. van with side door open so people can pelt us with candy and small footballs. car with people. car with kids. cop car. tiny marching band. council represenatative. cop car. two cops on seques. watching the parade was me and about 5 people from the washington glass school. we were clapping and picking up the candy from the ground and the small footballs.. it was pretty funny. although funny turned a little sad when the dog had to lug the two kids up a modest hill... also, last night on the way to my birhtday dinner, colleen and i saw a blind fellow with a beautiful black lab guide dog. the dog really was amazing. and once on the train he plopped down and looked around in that way dogs do. he looked a little sad and i felt really sad because this lovely gorgeous dog has spent his life being trained and noble helping someone and was so gentle and smart but maybe missed out on being a dog? but then the coolest thing happened. another blind gentleman with another black lab guide dog got on! the second man could see a little bit i think, cause he knew no one was sitting in the seats by the door. but the dogs were so happy to see each other and were sniffing each others faces. it was sweet and cute. then they were yanked apart. i had wanted to call in sick today but hamlet is out of control. maybe i'll play sick preview week. i think i'm still full from dinner last night. colleen took me out to ray's the classics in silver spring and we had steak. and mashed potatos. and it. was. great. we also prefaced everything for the rest of the evening as "ray's the..." i have leftovers for tonights dinner and the swiss chard in my garden looks ripe for the picking so dinner tonight is set. i do have to say, i think this is the first birthday where i've thought "wow that sounds old". 34. although somone at work asked if i was 29 and wasn't joking. i bought myself birthday socks (it's a dumb tradition i have) and wrinkle cream.
