the city paper is dead.

more reasons to be aggrivated with DC-

the city paper, despite being the recipient of many fist-waggleing tirades from me, employs a lot of my friends. hutto, adrian, new friend sarah of the CM.
yesterday it was revealed that some larger atlanta-based publishing company that puts out a city paper in 4 other cities snapped up our city paper and chicago's reader.
the reader i actually hold in very high regard. and didn't realize they were owned by the same company since the reader is so good and our CP is...well, it's there.
but recently we had a redesign and for a brief (i think it was 28 days) shining moment, it looked like eric wemple was going to go to NYC to work for the VV. despite not actually setting foot in the building....and you know, meeting your staff face to face (if i remember the story correctly)
anyhow, wemple didn't move. he didn't even budge.
he declined the job and stayed at the CP.
hearing stuff from the inside doesn't look good. sarah thinks she might be ok, but it looks like a lot (a lot) of the editorial dept. is getting axed. or people "can choose to relocate".
this whole thing stinks on ice.

If the citypaper before felt out of step with what was happening in DC, it's sure to only worsen. I can imagine what being 4 states away will do.
and word is the actual printing of the papers will move south as well.
awesome. more jobs lost.
hutto's birthday is saturday and he's having a party. R&E are also having a party. both are convieniently located in arlington.
my car is in the shop getting a new trunk lid and i hope a new lock.
it will be nice to have the dent gone. now i just need to replace the windshield and i can get my car re-inspected.
