i'm living the wrong life

I'm trying to make myself feel human. I am *beat*
yesterday was fun and really really frigging hot.
our bus to NYC was about 45 minutes late but the driver made up crazy time and we landed about noon in chinatown. I was awake when we rolled into the city which wasn't difficult, as i was seated in front of the bathroom in the back- not stinky, but the door didn't work so it swung freely...which maybe helped cut down on its usage. But it wasn't quite as harrowing as the window that would swing open when the bus made swift right-handed turns on the ramps in Tribeca. The older gentleman valiantly tried to shut it, but once we hit the city he was like 'oh fuck it' and the window would swing open.
I didn't see the magic waffle place from my first Chinatown bus trip with colleen 5 or 6 years ago. It must be gone. Or could possibly be the chatham sq. diner, but without the waffles sign. or maybe that place was just a mirage.
On a good suggestion, we went to a vegetarian dim sum place. it was really excellent. and they had 'unicorn' on the menu.
we didn't order it.
then we walked across the manhattan bridge to brooklyn- on the bridge the weather was fine, nice breeze, not bad. once we hit brooklyn, the air was kinda dead. we headed to the telectroscope - there was no line! it was also kinda hard to see the people in london, but the overall piece is really really beautiful. the photos don't do it justice. although now i can see why it's not going to be outside for much longer. there were some uh....lamination issues. And all the black parts are upholstered. It's really really beautiful. and it was right next to an ice cream place which was great because we were all melting by that point.
we headed back to prospect park and i stopped a lady with a Puggle to see if there were any used book stores around, figuring a street that had used book stores would have other stuff. She turned out to be english, but I got to pet a puggle, so it wasn't a total loss.
We were basically in Brooklyn heights and were picking out where we wanted to live. I chose a house that belonged to a poet i wasn't familiar with...sean chose a house that has insanely gorgeous windows. I would love to see the first families that lived in those houses. I can't imagine the grandeur.
Or maybe i can and that's why i want to meet them.
Rania called a friend who instructed us to a bar on the edge of park slope. it's my new favorite bar- $2 gin and tonics and free pop corn and the music (no jukebox) was great! when we got there it was go!team and i thought 'ok, i can work with this' and then there was some dead kennedys, pavement, pixies (and not like, 'here comes your man'...deep-cuts kinda stuff) even Battles (whom i'm seeing saturday. i think. right? yeah)
The bartender was so sweet and adorable. then we met the owner. he was super sweet and very very cute.
it was such a nice place.
there were a couple of moments where i thought 'i'm living the wrong live'
i had that feeling in chicago, but it was pretty strong yesterday walking through brooklyn heights.

ugh, i have to get to work...not a good idea to schedule a de-install for 9 am after a day of walking around in 98 degree heat.
