i need a nap

man, i love chicago. and vacation. it seems much more crowded and uh....slightly douchier this year, but i think that might be due to the air show thing.
i think if i lived in chicago, i would be really really not thrilled about how low the jets are flying. it's kinda scary. i don't know if it's because of (semi) recent tragic events but i think really it's loud. and not cool to see your house buzzed. blue angel or not.

seeing the prop-planes fly in formation was kinda cool....i have to admit. i was on a bus going down chicago and could see some of the air-show biz.
so far, i've seen leigh and mike p. went to renegade store (twice! didn't buy anything either time) went to paper doll...played with a pug who may have been trying to scratch his doggy-asshole on my shoe...or maybe he just liked sitting on my foot. he was silly and delightfully puggish. went to myopic and quimby's. maybe saw steve albini in a taxi (waiting for a bus on damen, a taxi pulled up and customer in back had window down and looked suspiciously albini-ish)
bought a really really adorbs dress at a small store for round girls. the owner was frightfully chipper and overly interested in everything about me...in that way that you know she really couldn't give two fucks but the dress was just...so....*cuuuuuute*
went to the jeff koons show. i'm really not into his photographs or paintings, but i was delighted to see his sculptures. i was telling mike that i was checking out every inch of the silver bunny and i finally saw a few chinks in the flawless finish on the lower part of the bunny's lower-left foot. a bit of rust patina and a tiny dent. it was the first time i've ever seen a clue that those pieces are infact formed steel and not inflated plastic.
what i really liked about the exhibit, tho was a small show that koons curated with pieces from the MCA collection. the few times i've been to the MCA i've always been kinda underwhelmed by their permanent collection and this time was no different. there's some great kara walker silhouettes (although kinda lumpy- you can see wrinkles in some of the latex appliques)a few cindy shermans and lot of bruce numan, whose work does not excite me at all. particularly an extremely unsophisticated 'carousel' of hanging taxidermy forms that are straight out of the vana dyke (or wherever he purchased them) warehouse.
i had other thoughts that i wrote down in the moment, but it's buried in my bag.
i went up in the hancock building today around 4:30 to have a drink and see the view since everyone says to do that instead of going to the observation deck. it was so crowded that i didn't stay, i went to use their bathroom and saw the navy pier from above- i'm going to check out the peir tomorrow and see if i can ride the ferris wheel. i am ridiculously gay for carousels and ferris wheels.
but tonight i'm going to a 'pre bash' party for dan and elizabeth at some bar...i need a little nap!
