Right now

I'm having a hard time concentrating today. I imagine a lot of people are...if they're at work at all- the metro this morning was empty like a weekend morning before everyone is up and moving about.
Without sounding like a total queerball, it really feels...different here. It feels new and there's an electricity in the air, but it's an electricity of excitement and positivity instead of resentment and distrust. It's unity and high-5's and hugs and raise the roof and we-did-it-yes-we-can and shoulder to shoulder instead of back to back.
My uber-repub brother sent me a link to a stupid woman crying some "now i don't have to work anymore because Obama is going to take care of me" spiel and i told todd that there are stupid people on both sides of the line. Leading the charge: the McCain people who went to my friend Rebecca's house in Alexandria and said "Do you know Obama was born on an ISLAND" and Rebecca said "You mean Hawaii?" and slammed her door shut.
Right now, I don't even think I'm being naeive, but I have so much hope for the future and I'm so glad i live here...
