weird feelings, cymbals for kids and productivitiy.

flipping through a toys r us flier a few weeks ago, i found the greatest, most obnoxious, most passive-aggressive toy ever to give to the crotch fruit of the person you're most tired of-
A marching band kit. it comes with drums and cymbals. and it's $20.
And it has cymbals. and a strap so you can wear the drum about the house banging the bejeezus out of it while your mom is trying to talk on the phone and did i mention the CYMBALS?http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2674866
they're sold out of it on line. i really would love to get this for my cousin's kid who i'm less and less fond of every year. i think he's up to 7 now?i don't know. and the newest one, she doesn't blink. ever. that's a sign of something, right?
on the flip side of bad-kids, have you ever looked at a child by someone you know/liked and you think "wow, you could have been mine"? It's a weird feeling to have while you're staring at his perfect little apple cheeks and resisting the urge to touch them.
this cold completely struck me flat for two entire days. I did *nothing* productive for two entire days!!! Now i'm worrying about it. incidentally, i was very productive last night so maybe there's something to be said about taking day quil with three cups of coffee.
