punch party
I had a dream/nightmare last night that was so weird I'm still trying to put it together. It invoved ryan, letters, stolen toilets, flying or traveling in some vehicle or plane without seats and seat belts, 5'x5' envelopes and paintings. The only things I can really remember were ryan broke into the house (which wasn't our house) and either he or the landlord (who wasn't our landlord) removed the toilet from the 1st floor bathroom which was an all-white room with plush white carpeting with a 2" pile. I think the huge envelopes were drawn on or left by ryan for another person who wasn't there and i was really sad that he didn't even leave me so much as a post-it. the plane/van was the hardest thing to factor except i remember tumbling to the back with a bunch of people i don't know and our stuff and a few random toy things like large lego blocks and someone figured out how we could open some hatch in the back and leave with our stuff and not wait to disembark. none of this really matters but when the dreams get super strange i like to write them down. two groups are joining up to host an "artists inaugural ball". generally, i'm pretty down on the whole 'ball' thing. the first and second rounds of inaugurations I was in town for the metro was stuffed with drunk old white folk, themselves stuffed into dresses and tassled loafers and fur coats of varying lengths. I remember intentionally giving wrong directions to one overly imbibed fur laden lady which, i would like to say for the record, is the only time i've ever intentionally given incorrect directions. The artists ball is at a place where I've spent many a NYE and initially i thought "meh. i don't need to go" but it looks like it's really getting interesting. It also looks like it's taking a cue from the old NYE parties with the roster of burlesque performers on sunday night which sounds pretty great. I can sleep it off the next day since I don't have to work. also, the people who use to run the place are starting up this 'punch' club thing with prohibition era coctails. which...sounds pretty good to me.
