mannequins, meat and bargains

I have a dressmakers form! Defunct project runway, here i come!
It's better than i had anticipated, but not great- it needs a bit of work in the way of wing nuts because the bolts holding the "expanding" pieces inside are long gone, so it's a bit lopsided. Here's what's brilliant 'tho...it's on a Mic stand. Typically these things are on horrible rickity bases that topple over in a draft (unless you get a super serious $600 one) I'm more happy about the brillian mic stand solution and can easily fix the body to make it work. The hard part is going to be making myself wait to work on it.
Also happy about the fact it wasn't difficult to pick it up, i did make it in about 40 minutes and on the way there i realized hey! it's wednesday! comic book stores are open later on wednesdays so i stopped by big planet and picked up the new issue of blue monday.
And when i got there, there was a parking space *directly* outfront and 15 minutes on the meter. It was the kind of day where i thought "what's going on? this is all too easy!"
Also on the burner is a project with a friend, we will call him chicago-mike because that's his name and that's where he lives. Chicago-mike does a lot of design-y work for the shmancy grocery store chain whose initials are WF. He made a chandelier at one out of a few hundred coffee mugs and has recently made some fake display cheeses. He's maybe outsourcing some work to me by way of making fake 'aged meat' for display purposes at the new WF being built kinda north of greektown? I remember driving by it with him last summer and that's all i really remember of the area. A lot of big box type stores and then cute greekstuff and then a university i think.
He's also talking to a company in california who...that's all they do. they make resin replicas of food for giant stores.
Me? I carve foam.
I have to say 'tho...one of my weirdest and best talents is making fake cuts of meat. I'm just good at getting the texture right. To the point that I'm able to gross people out.
also- word up to the bargain loving pro-design girlies, check this match made in heaven:
