bethb's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All of the pantsless sock-sliding, none of the bob seeger When I arrived home today i saw a snapped cable from a telephone pole and i didn't think it was too dangerous because it just looked like the support/tension cable (how the hell am i supposed to know what it's called) and it was patina-ed in that nice way that metal does when you leave it alone outside (the super hot construction engineer pronouced it "pat-tin-ahed" and it almost ruined the crush. almost. seriously, he's beautiful) and it was touching other cable bits so i thought 'this might hurt kids! maybe i should call it in' so first i dialed the city wide call center which was closed since it was 6:45 pm which said to call 911 if it was an emergency and erring on the side of 'well, at least i'm not calling because mcdonald's is out of mcnuggets', i called 911. They sent a police office who was probably 20 and called me 'ma'am' (jerk) and said the fire truck would be there soon. I wasn't sure if i was over-reacting so i kept peeking out the window since this is almost in front of my house) and saw firemen earnestly checking out the telephone pole next to our driveway. I just checked 5 minutes ago and now there's two lines of 'do not cross' tape cordoning off a section of my street with the cops car in the middle of it. It's been an hour now, so maybe it's more serious than i thought which makes me feel like less of an asshat for calling 911. tomorrow i get the house back to myself for about 2 and a half weeks. 7:45 p.m. - 2009-03-11 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
