when i need a friend it's still you

today is gorgeous.
i will open all the windows and organize my records.
i had a motown records and twee/lo-fi 7" dance party last night by myself in my living room before i grilled some chicken and had a beer.
at first, i thought it would be pathetic but it wasn't. it was nice to reaquaint myself with some old mary lou lord 7" records. although, i don't understand why, a decade plus ago, i never realized she totally ripped off/shouted out to dinosaur jr. on 'western union desperate'. it's the line from dinosaur jr's freak scene where j croaks "when i need a friend it's still you". so weird. it took 12 years for my brain to put that together?

also,i have to say, i make a pretty good barbeque chicken. maybe it's the sauce, but i'm going to pretend it's my grilling skills.
