too long and too cold

i'm at my parent's house and i am freezing. i honestly have no idea why they keep it so cold. it's not even 60 degrees.

Thank god for flannel pajamas. I saw the best pair in NYC- they had firemen on 'em. like those little 1950's era kids dressed as firemen. oh so so cute, and oh, so expensive. 70 bucks. i ended up gettting a pair wednesday night, a nick and nora knock-off with stars and moons and cows. who cares? they're comfy and warm and 16 dollars. wheeeeee!

although, truth be told, the firemen pjs were *really* *really* *really* cool. they had sushi ones too, but it was kinda unsetteling. i didn't know how i'd feel looking like a menu.

so...thanksgiving was....um...weirdly eventful. and not in a good way. i don't feel like writing about it, other than to say that i am really truly thankful. i don't know how long these things last (meaning the online diary) i've almost altogether stopped writing in my real one. and i know other people read this so i don't want to bore you with details. but i had to at least mention it for me.)

I've seen very few bucks county friends this trip home. i wanted to spend a lot of it with family, and i'm driving back tomorrow for the Q and not U show so i want to be happy and well rested and ready to rock.

conversely, i've seen a lot of people in the past week. going to NY and seeing lea and jason and running into jonathan. i still can't get over that. ren and miguel comming to DC. i love having people over. i need a bigger place.

i think i'm going to start writing letters more. real actual letters.

that's all i really want from boys, really. as liz phair said 'letters and sodas'. delicately penned letters on hand-crafted rice paper. perhaps a seal. i can't help it, i think letters are so romantic.

it's such a little monument to the emotion put forth you know? i mean, with email and this thing, i'll try to proof read. with emails, i'll spell check (or try to anyhow) but not a whole lot of effort goes into them, you know?

my feet are sooooooo cold. i think i'm gonna put on my pj's and watch law and order. no surreal bar experiences for me this evening.

have i mentioned those? No? ok, i'll write more.

so, two weeks ago, jenny, jordana, randy and i drive up to baltimore for some good old-fashioned baltimore adventuring. that, and jenny's boss' friend's boyfriend (did you follow that?) plays in this band called 'lake trout'.they're a band i'd heard of, but never actually heard or seen. so we had to go and they're playing at this bar called 'the 13th floor' which is this *really* poorly layed-out bar on the 13th floor of this swank hotel called 'the belvadere'. to get to this place, you had to ascend in one of two *slooooooooooow* elevators (you couldn't take the stairs because of some party on the 12th floor that was blocking the stairwell....which led to much frustration when we tried to leave)anyway, the lobby of this place was beautiful. there were two wedding parties happening. so you're looking at a line of grungy kids all cued up in this lobby with a chandelier laden with french-cut crystal ( i only know what that is because i had to help find one for a play i did) and off to the right you can hear wedding-band strains of 'you're still the one...' and that santana song that those grammy people are nuts for.

Oh! and the bathroom at the belvadere- evidently they were renovating it and they punched a big hole in the drop-ceiling and lo and behold found all this ornate plaster work, like cartuches and stuff. (have i mentioned that i'm an architecture geek? yeah? good.)(actually, now that i say that, i'm not confident of the spelling. if you know, write me and berate me...) anyhow, you can go into the womens bathroom, and above the soffet, there is a big gaping hole and you can see some of the original plaster work, which looks like the lobby. so i don't know why anyone thought it was weird that the bathrooms were these squat little un-elaborate things while the lobby is this grand entrance.

but they probably wouldn't have guessed they would have housed an airport-lounge style bar up on their 13th floor.

you do get amazing views of baltimore. what, with being pressed up against the windows because evidently allllll of baltimore was there to see lake trout.um, so that's all i fell like writing tonight.

see you when i'm back in DC.

xoxo
