cheap chicago tips?

dear chicago readers-

please send me names of affordable hotels in chicago.
i'm trying to plan my trip in july and i've found one that seems affordable. it's the chinatown hotel?
it seems...um....probably not scary.
it appears to have a tv and AC and that's all i really care about finding.
oh, and near an el stop. that's necessary too.
